A Carlow family took drastic action yesterday evening by camping outside the local Council offices in tents with three children.
The family, who are homeless, have been on the housing list for the past ten years.
Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor says the family were offered an unsuitable apartment in Tullow up three flights of stairs and with no lift.
Their children go to school in Carlow – and they cannot afford transport from Tullow to Carlow town every day.
She says that the family were eventually offered emergency accommodation in a hotel room last night.
Patrick, who didnt want to give his full name, told KCLR they’ve “been pushed from pillar to post”.
