The Prince of Wales today thanked the people of Kilkenny for the warm welcome to the city and county.
He told those gathered at a civic reception in the Castle that it was a real treat to meet the people and particularly some of the hurlers.

And he made reference to the special relationship they have with Ireland.
Prince Charles actually tried his hand at the game of hurling in the Castle park earlier and managed to hit the back of the net with his effort.
Kilkenny Manager Brian Cody was impressed with the Princes skills.
