The number of people waiting on a bed at St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny tripled over the weekend

The number of people waiting for a bed at St. Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny more than tripled over the weekend.

There are currently 23 patients on trolleys, compared to seven on Friday.

It comes as the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) calls for the Emergency Department Taskforce to meet urgently to discuss how the HSE plans to tackle the overcrowding problem in Irish hospitals.

Nationally, there are 526 patients, including seven children, without a bed today.

KCLR News has contacted the Ireland East Hospital Group for comment and is awaiting a reply.
