As Carlow & Kilkenny members of the Federation of Early Childhood Providers prepare for end of month strike, one warns thousands will be taking to the streets

A local creche owner says she doesn’t want to close her doors in protest later this month, but has no choice.

Members of the Federation of Early Childhood Providers are aiming to shut for three days while a protest is due to take place in Dublin from the 26th to 28th of September.

It’s as the sector’s been hit with issues including funding and staff retention which has had an impact on parents seeking childcare.

Eleanor Peters of Play Together in Carlow says the action’s necessary to highlight just how valuable their service is.
