Minister Darragh O’Brien will lead with a Housing for All update this morning before a focus on the future of media and broadcasting is explored.
Yesterday saw speeches from Tánaiste Micheál Martin as well as a range of ministers outlining Budget priorities, preparation for local and European elections. While the Education Minister Norma Foley was among those involved in a session on education and transport.
Carlow Kilkenny TD John McGuinness says he’s been lobbying her for school and college buses in areas locally that don’t have such services: ”Mullinavat to Ferrybank, Gowran to Kilkenny – they don’t have a school bus system. The long side of this then is a huge issue. There’s also an increase of Kilkenny students attending UL in Limerick and they don’t have transport. I have lobbied Norma Foley about this and I’m asking her for the possibility of more services.”

farmers are still protesting at the Horse & Jockey Venue.
Its following an impromptu meeting with Tanaiste Micheal Martin, Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue, and IFA members yesterday.
Farmers are protesting changes to the Nitrate derogation and delays to farming payments.
Kilkenny IFA Chair Jim Mulhall says the Government needs to support young farmers: ”Look they are looking for the government to stand behind them and back Irish Farmers. They’re the future of farming in this country and that’s why we stuck around to meet the Minister’s and TD’s. We wanted to put our concerns to them and let them know there is a way forward.”
