One person in custody following armed robbery at Kilkenny city Post Office

One man’s in custody following an incident at a local business premises this (Tuesday) afternoon.

What’s understood to have been an armed robbery happened in the High Street Post Office on High Street in Kilkenny city at about 3:30pm.

A man aged in his thirties entered the building with a hammer and demanded money before fleeing with a sum of cash.

However, he was soon arrested and the money recovered.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the city garda station on 056 777 5000.

KCLR News understands nobody was injured.

The outlet did close but a spokesperson for An Post says they expect it should open as normal tomorrow, (Wednesday).
