Young animation enthusiasts get up close with an Oscar winner in Kilkenny

Young animation fans have been getting up close with an Acadamy Award.

Avatar won an Oscar for its visual effects and the golden statuette’s on a visit to Kilkenny with the film’s Technical Environment Lead, Colbert Fennelly, who hails from the county.

Local boy Stephen Stuart was delighted to meet both over the weekend.

He even had an opportunity to hold the Oscar thanks to Young Irish Film Makers in Kilkenny.

“I just got to meet the visual editor of Avatar and it was great, I got to ask him what was
his favorite movie he ever worked on and it was the first Lion King and it was great and
I got to take a picture,” Stephen said.
