Four people arrested for drink or drug driving in Kilkenny with no such arrests in Carlow across the bank holiday weekend

Four people were arrested locally over the bank holiday weekend for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Two tested positive for drugs with two more for alcohol – all were picked up in Kilkenny with no such arrests in Carlow.

112 checkpoints were carried out across the two counties alone in a road safety campaign that was launched last Thursday.

There was no loss of life locally and one serious incident in the Waterford end of the Division, with a motorcyclist injured in Portlaw.

Divisional Roads Policing Inspector Paul Donhoe has been telling The KCLR Daily it was deemed a successful weekend and he added that the message appears to be reaching motorists.
