Local emergency services personnel are pleading with road users to ensure they take extra care this Bank Holiday Weekend.
With more people travelling about, the risk of a crash increases and nobody wants to see the death toll rise any further.
42 people have died on Irish roads already this year, among them three young people in Carlow, a young man in Kilkenny and another who died in Co Limerick.
Yesterday (Thursday) the latest road safety campaign was launched at Foulkstown, the scene of a recent fatality, with members of An Garda Síochána, Fire Brigade, Civil Defence and Kilkenny County Council.
