The discovery of a body in south Kilkenny twenty years ago is set to be reviewed by Gardaí.
Paiche Onyemaechi Unyolo moved to Ireland in 1999, she had been living in Waterford city and working in Limerick when she was reported missing on the 10th of July 2004.
Aged 25 years at the time, she was mother to two boys and was daughter of the then Malawian Chief Justice.
13 days later, on the 23rd of July, her body was found, beaten and decapitated, in a field close to Brenar Bridge in Piltown.
Nobody has ever been charged with her murder.
It’s reported Gardaí in Waterford are undertaking a review of the case.
Cllr Pat Dunphy’s from the area and has told KCLR News “As it is the 20th anniversary it’s no harm remembering what happened, that did send shockwaves in Piltown and throughout the areas around Piltown again that a poor girl’s body was found in a field in a rural area of Piltown, in a grusome way, so it’s good to hear that they’re maybe going to review the case because I don’t think anybody was ever got for that but twenty years has passed by quickly, often you’d pass by that spot there you’d remember it because it made such an impact at the time”.
