A Carlow councillor is calling on the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) to take action and bring foreign investment to the town, saying an underutilised building could create thousands of local jobs.
John Cassin expressed frustration over seeing commuters leave Carlow every morning for work in other counties, while a suitable IDA building in the town has sat idle for over a year.
Cllr. Cassin believes the facility has the potential to attract investment and generate employment, but he argues that the IDA has yet to develop a clear strategy to make use of the valuable asset.
Speaking to KCLR News, Cllr. Cassin pointed to an upcoming trip to the United States as an ideal networking opportunity for the IDA to explore and pursue potential investments that could benefit Carlow’s local economy.
