Agriculture Minister announces Housing Order following bird flu outbreak in County Carlow

The Minister for Agriculture has revealed on KCLR that he is to implement a Housing Order in a bid to curb the spread of bird flu.

A plea for such a measure had been made by IFA Poultry Committee Chair Nigel Sweetnam earlier on the station following last night’s confirmation that there’s been an outbreak amid a commercial turkey flock in County Carlow.

Minister Martin Heydon told KCLR the local holding is close to Tullow with restriction zones in place around it.
