Operating costs at the Visual Arts Centre in Carlow are expected to reach one million euro for 2025.
County Councillors were given the figure at their monthly meeting during a presentation by the facility’s outgoing Chief Executive.
Emma Lucy O’Brien told KCLR News that the 17% rise in inflation since 2022 had contributed to the spike in costs, noting; “Inflation and just even the light and heat and all of the things, the challenges that we’ve had over the last number of years, and obviously as well in terms of labour costs and sometimes your looking at labour costs that are moving in the right way for people as well but for an organisation that’s quite lean, that’s a challenge for us”.
