Fake fifty euro notes in circulation in Carlow and Kilkenny

Shops locally are under alert due to the circulation of dud cash.

A number of attempts have been made to pass fake €50 notes at outlets in the past week.

Garda Thomas Hennessy has this advice; “For retailers and the general public at large just to be vigilant in relation to bogus fifty euro notes which we’ve got reports of in the past week, we would ask retailers to be vigilant and to check fifty euro notes to make sure they are not counterfeit also to be aware that people paying large sums can have fake notes in the middle of genuine notes”.
