A number of locals are in the running for a Volunteer Ireland Award.
Patrick Owens from The Thomas Hayes Trust (Teac Tom) has been shortlisted in the Health & Wellbeing category while the same organisation’s Eilis Cody’s up for Volunteer Manager and their Volunteer Listeners is among those in the Small Groups section.
Kilkenny couple Joy and Edwin Harper are among the Children & Youth finalists having been central to the Community Connect Hub, supporting families across Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, and Tipperary. Joy delivers essentials and connects with mothers and babies, while Edwin runs upcycling workshops and helps with logistics.
The late Ann Little was shortlisted for Social Inclusion & Community Support for the work with Hygiene Hub Kilkenny.
The awards ceremony takes place in Dublin this weekend.
