An outbreak of norovirus has led to the latest visitor restrictions at St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and KIlkenny.
Noroviruses are contagious and can spread easily from person to person, and is one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis / stomach bugs.
In a bid to reduce the spread, management at the local facility is allowing only one visitor per patient during visiting hours of 6 to 8pm with all visitors required to wear a mask.
