Extra care’s advised again today as the cold weather continues.
Caution’s needed on the roads, though many are understood to have been gritted by local authority crews, KCLR listeners tell us there are icy stretches including between Gowran and Clara.
And we’re all asked to check in with those who might be vulnerable.
Already, today’s Sunday Market at Mountain View in Ballyhale’s been cancelled, so too has this afternoon’s dancing at Ballon Community Centre while racing at Naas has been pushed out to Friday.
Carlow and Kilkenny remain under a status yellow warning for low temperature and ice for the next hour with a second notice taking effect again this evening from the earlier time of 5pm:
Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather says the wintry weather doesn’t look like ending anytime soon, noting; “The cold snap really will continue up until Tuesday when we will see some rain moving in from the west but it will still be quite cool, it will just be more normal temperatures for a brief period before turning cool again after that rain clears”.
