Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel is closing to visitors on infection prevention and control grounds.
A statement says the number of patients presenting with flu and respiratory symptoms remains high, and the facility is currently managing an outbreak of flu on wards.
Visiting will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances by arrangement with the Nurse in Charge.
Management and staff say the move is being undertaken to protect vulnerable patients and limit the spread of infection.
It comes as visitor restrictions remain at St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny.
