30 motorists were found to be using phones while driving in one lunchtime Garda campaign locally.
Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit carried out their operation which focused on mobile phone offences.
Ten detections were made in Thomastown while in the city 20 fixed charge notices were issued to those caught talking, texting, scrolling or navigating while holding their devices.
Added to that, one uninsured driver had his car seized – despite buying it in December, it had no insurance so a court date’s to follow.
In a social media posting a garda spokesperson says; “We’d love to mount one of these days of action and catch nobody but that’s a long way off, unfortunately”.
