Councillor Eugene McGuinness calls for motorists using Kilkenny city estate as a short cut to be fined

A local councillor has called for Gardaí to fine motorists who are using a local housing estate as some sort of short cut.

At the city council meeting Eugene McGuinness raised the issue of the number of people reportedly flying through The Butts at speed to try and get ahead of traffic.

Residents have been forced to block the route on several occasions to stop those using the narrow stretch who shouldn’t be.
