Local councillors are calling for the removal of Go Safe vans from a Kilkenny city location.
At the city council meeting it was agreed that new safety measures, including raised pedestrian crossings on the Dublin Road close to its junction with Maudlin Street, are slowing down drivers along the stretch.
Cllr. Sean Ó hArgáin told KCLR News said he and his colleagues are in agreement on how to move forward, noting that the; “Feeling of all of the councillors at this point is that really those aren’t required any longer because there has been a substantial difference in the speed of traffic and we welcome that for local pedestrians, for local residents and in particular for residents trying to access the main road from the Lacken Drive estate who were having huge issues with exiting their estate and this has been a game-changer for them, but we do feel that there is no longer a necessity for speed vans”.
