House price rises in Kilkenny are expected to slow this year, according to the Sunday Times Property Price Guide.
Prices locally are forecast to increase by around 2.4 per cent, compared to a national average of 5.3 per cent.
By contrast, Kildare and Longford are expected to see rises of up to 10 per cent, with Limerick and Cork at 8 per cent.
The guide says low second-hand housing supply remains a challenge across the country.
Editor Sorcha Corcoran says the best value continues to be found outside big urban hubs.
“So there are lower price rises expected in Claire, Donegal, Galway, Kilkenny, Louth, Monaghan, Waterford and Wicklow and that’s an average of 2.4% increase across those countries
which is in some cases in line with it in normal inflation.” she said.
“So it’s an indication that things are calming down that we’re getting some price stabilisation.” she added.
