More than a hundred people have so far signed a petition launched by a local councillor seeking a return of the Pathfinder service in Carlow and Kilkenny.
The HSE confirmed to KCLR News last week that the assistance to help care for older people in their homes, thus preventing them from having to attend St Luke’s General Hospital, has as part of the Unscheduled Care Winter Plan 2025 temporarily redeployed its Health and Social Care Professional staff currently assigned to the Pathfinder model to an Early Supported Discharge model for a period of four months, beginning on the 5th of January (More here).
Carlow’s People Before Profit representative Adrienne Wallace had raised the issue at last week’s monthly meeting of the local authority, concerned for the withdrawal of the service and seeking its immediate return.
She’s since launched a petition for the decision to be reversed – see that here.
