As the cost of oil varies, Gardaí are urging you secure tanks on homes and farms.
Prices jumped again yesterday despite the world’s energy watchdog announcing the release of millions of reserve barrels.
Added to that we’re warned opportunistic thieves may further hit your pocket by stealing from our own home heating stores.
Crime Prevention Officer with Kilkenny Gardaí Sgt Eddie Brennan has this advice; “What we’re asking people to do is to maybe review existing security; can you enhance the security of your home heating oil, I think a lot of people have it stored in maybe in the likes of a garage or lock-up shed now obviously anyone that hasn’t you’re looking at the security around that, the quality of the locks you’re going to put on it, can you possibly put a fence around that?”
