While An Taoiseach Micheál Martin met with the US President in the White House, officials from Carlow and Kilkenny marked St Patrick’s Day in New York.
Typically each year representatives from both local authorities travel to maintain ties and build relationships abroad.
Kilkenny’s group featured the Chair and Deputy Chair, Cllrs Mary Hilda Cavanagh and Fidelis Doherty with others whose itinerary included meeting with senior executives from Tourism Ireland for a briefing on its promotional programme in the United States for 2026, which is in full swing right now.
While the Carlow contingent included Mayor Paul Doogue, Deputy Chairperson Cllr Daniel Pender and Cllr Ben Ward;
The county was also represented in Luxembourg;
