Concerns have been raised about graffiti damaging new infrastructure across Carlow, including bins and parking meters.
At last evening’s monthly meeting of the town council Cllr Anrea Dalton said while removal efforts are effective, she’s calling for preventative solutions such as designated mural spaces for artists.
Cllr. Dalton warns that vandalism is diverting funds from town improvements, telling KCLR News; “It’s money that’s being negatively used as opposed to money that can be positively used to make Carlow even better again so I’d just like people to keep an eye out, if they see anyone to report it, if I raise it with the guards they’ll say ‘well nobody’s ever reported it’, if people see people doing grafitti please let your local Gardaí know”.
The issue had also arisen last year.
