Two students from Carlow have won a national carbon monoxide safety poster competition run by Gas Networks Ireland and Junior Achievement Ireland.
Ella and Hanna, from Holy Family National School, took the top prize after their entry stood out among submissions from across the country.
The competition followed the ‘Energize’ STEM programme, which teaches primary school students about science and carbon monoxide safety.
An iPad was presented to the school, with organisers praising the students’ creativity and awareness of an important home safety issue.
Sinéad Bradley, Junior Achievement Ireland’s Training and Programme Coordinator, said: “Junior Achievement Ireland bridges education and the world of work to support students in developing essential skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving. We were delighted to see so many entries coming through for this competition and well done to the winning team for putting all their new skills to good use in developing their winning entry.”
