A fundraiser’s been launched by the family of the man who was killed in a crash in Kilkenny last week.
Damian Wròbel is understood to have been living and working locally for many years.
He’s been named as the person who was struck by a car while cycling on the Tullaroan Road close to the city last Wednesday evening and who died over the weekend.
Now the aim is to repatriate his body to Poland and the online plea outlines “Our beloved brother, brother-in-law, father, and uncle was the victim of a fatal accident. We are asking for financial support to bring Damian’s body back to Poland so he can be laid to rest with dignity in his hometown. Every contribution counts. We want to honor Damian’s final wish to be transported to Nowa Sol, but the costs are immense, and the family cannot afford the transport. That is why we are earnestly asking for your help.”
The target is 40,000 PLN (Polish Złoty), approx €9,000, with about a quarter of that achieved so far from 80 donations – more here (in Polish).
