Ireland’s hosting of the Presidency of the European Council brings welcomed business boost to Kilkenny and Carlow

A number of local businesses look set to feature prominently during Ireland’s hosting of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Ireland took the reins yesterday with local ceremonies to mark the occasion organised by both Carlow and Kilkenny county councils.

Despite concerns regarding the costs involved and impact on policing personnel etc that’s expected to come with the reign, it’s hoped to bring a boost to the country overall.

And already it seems there’s a positive impact for some enterprises.

North Kilkenny based bus company JJ Kavanagh & Sons outlined it’s role for the six-month term;

While in the Dáil Deputy John McGuinness raised Graignamanagh’s Cushendale Woollen Mills;
