As one weather warning ends another kicks in later, again for high temperatures.
The first has been in play since Friday lunchtime and ended at 7 this (Sunday) morning with another beginning at 1pm today and running to 7am Tuesday for ten counties, including Kilkenny.
Hottest spots yesterday were Clonmel in south Tipperary and Glengariff, Cork both hitting 31 degrees.
Last night those served by the water treatment plants at Nanny’s Well, Gurteen as well as Clogh-Castlecomer fell under nighttime water restrictions while everyone’s asked to conserve their supply where possible.
Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather says a heatwave has been reported right across the country noting; “A number of weather stations have officially hit a heatwave which is five days above 25 degrees, in fact Moore Park in Cork has had seven days above 25 degrees, while Oak Park has had six days”.
Care is needed for all heading outside – in particular for today’s National Day of Commemoration, Carlow Pride, Kilkenny Country Music Festival and demonstration in Carlow town.
