Carlow and Kilkenny are among areas under the latest high temperature notice.
It kicks in at midday (today, Wednesday 15th July) and runs to 6am Friday, also covering Laois, Kildare, Longford, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Munster & Connacht.
Temperatures could hit 30 degrees and as all of the usual warnings for conserving water, taking care at waterbodies and more continue, farmers are reminded of the potential impact on animals and crops.
IFA President, Laois based Francie Gorman, says; “We’ve seen crops blowing in very quickly which will affect yields and the winter barley harvest anything between half to three quarters of a tonne which in a year the sector’s challenged is a big concern but I think in general we just need to be a little bit careful around how we look after animals, make sure that they have access to water”.
