There’s huge sadness in Kilkenny on the death of Eamonn Langton.
The businessman served visitors and people of the locality for decades, having taken over the premises his parents opened on John Street which has since been expanded to include Langton House Hotel, the Sixty Seven Bar, Set Theatre, John Street Tearooms and Bridie’s Bar, with the associated Marble City Bar and Tearooms on Kieran Street also popular. Eamonn was a huge supporter of other local enterprises, groupings and individuals and was known for a lot of behind-the-scenes acts of kindness.
While his love of music was key to his former role of showband promoter.
He was awarded the Freedom of Kilkenny city just three months ago (our coverage on that is here) and in 2022 was presented with the Kilkenny Chamber President’s Award at the Kilkenny Business Awards.
Eamonn died, peacefully, at home overnight.
Reposal is in Johnston’s Funeral Home, John’s Green, Kilkenny tomorrow (Thursday, 17th Sept) from 3pm with Prayers at 7pm.
Requiem Mass is at 12noon on Friday in St. John’s Church, Kilkenny after which he’ll be laid to rest in Foulkstown Cemetery.
