Our locality’s set to host a stage of the Rory’s Miles 2 Mayo: The Trilogy today.
The 378km walking challenge around the island of Ireland is being undertaken by rugby legend Rory Best and 21 business leaders.
They’re bidding to raise money for Cancer Fund for Children, a charity that provies emotional, social and therapeutic support to young people and families impacted by cancer.
€2.5million’s been raised to date with more expected to be added to the pot with this, the final part of a series of three physical fundraising challenges by the crew.
There’s support too from headline sponsor Arachas Corporate Brokers while Kingsbridge Private Hospital Group is on board as a supporting sponsor and has also been committed to this challenge since its inception.
Today is Day Five of the nine-day walk with a 40km route taking in Carlow Castle to Kilkenny Castle, passing through Williamstown, Cloghristick, Powerstown, Leighlinbridge and Moneybeg in Co Carlow, as well as Paulstown, Lackabeg, Kilmacahill, Shraugh, Ballyquirk and Clara in Co Kilkenny.
