The National Ploughing Championships move a little closer to Carlow and Kilkenny for 2027.
Event organisers last evening announced Kildare will be the host next year.
More than 243,000 people turned up at the site in Screggan between Tuesday and Thursday marking an increase on last year’s figures.
Assistant Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association, Anna Marie McHugh says it’s the nature of the association to move venues.
Meanwhile, there was disappointment for some of our local plough competitor, the best positioned were Seán Tracey of Carlow in the Senior Conventional Test Match and Aoife Hennessy from Kilkenny in the Macra 2 Furrow Conventional Plough Class, both taking third place in their respective contests – here’s how the last of the competitions in the furrows ended;
