Businesses across Carlow and Kilkenny are placing more emphasis on training and upskilling their employees.
This is according to figures released by Skillnets, a state-run organisation set up to provide training to staff members across a range of sectors.
Their research showed that there was an 11% increase in Carlow businesses seeking training in 2015 while there was a 42% increase in Kilkenny.
Paul Healy is the CEO of Skillnets and he says that in spite of these increases, Ireland is particularly bad at engaging adult employees in lifelong learning training when compared to other EU countries.
