Locals from Carlow and Kilkenny travel to Dublin today to protest against insurance prices

Locals are taking part in a national demonstration against motor insurance prices.

They gathered at the Rue Glen in Slieverue earlier this morning (8am) and are making their way in convoy to Dublin where they will drive through the city from midday.

They calling for no more extortionate premiums, insurance for older cars, no more age discrimination, no more excessive payouts and a tougher stance on insurance fraud.

Cian Griffin, from Ireland Underground, told KCLR fraudulent claims are only part of the problem.
