That’s the advice from roads policing inspector for Carlow, Kilkenny and Waterford Paul Donohoe.
The Gardai are out today at various check points to urge drivers to drive with care as part of Slow Down Day.
106 motorists have been caught speeding in the first five hours of Slow Down Day.
A motorist was caught speeding 83km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the Callan Road Kilkenny
One driver on the M4 in Meath was clocked at 146 kilometres in a 120 kilometre Zone.
Another on the on the N62 in Tipperary was also doing 118km/h in a 100km/h Zone
37 people have died on the roads this year, 4 local if these were local.
Inspector Donohue spoke with KCLR News he said: “An Garda Síochána are working across the Country now to do an operation to reduce speed within all our roads”
“We will have roads policing members throughout the counties of Kilkenny and Carlow we’ll have a high number of members working today doing speed checks and, hopefully not a lot of detections and people will heed the message and ask people to slow down”
