Another Kilkenny name added to list of Olympic hopefuls

Another local name’s been added to the list of Olympic hopefuls.

Kilkenny’s Cliodhna Manning is now part of the backup crew for Ireland’s athletics hopefuls at this summer’s games in Paris.

Team Ireland comprises 112 athletes, including Glenmore’s Mia Griffin and Finn Lynch from Hacketstown.

Manning has been listed as a non-travelling reserve for both the women’s and mixed 4x400m relay teams. Waterford’s Thomas Barr, whose home club is Ferrybank AC is named to travel with the mixed 4x400m relay team.

While former Kilkenny College students Jeremy Duncan and Lisa Jacob are with the Irish Men’s Hockey Team as player and Performance Director respectively.
