Brian Dowling has been reappointed as Kildare senior hurling manager for the 2027 season.
The Kilkenny native had been strongly linked with the vacant Cats senior manager’s position before Henry Shefflin was confirmed as Derek Lyng’s successor earlier this week.

Dowling has transformed Kildare’s fortunes since taking charge, guiding the Lilywhites to back-to-back promotions and securing their return to the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship.
His work in Kildare has earned widespread praise, adding to an already impressive coaching résumé that includes All-Ireland success with St Kieran’s College and Kilkenny’s senior camogie team.
Dowling was regarded as one of the leading candidates for the Kilkenny role before the County Board opted to appoint Shefflin as the county’s new senior manager.
With his future now settled, Dowling will remain at the helm in Kildare as they look to build on the progress made over the past two seasons and establish themselves in the Leinster Championship.
