Carlow goalkeeper Brian Treacy insists the team has moved on from the disappointment of losing their Liam MacCarthy Cup status last summer, as they now turn their focus to the challenges ahead in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League and the Joe McDonagh Cup.
Despite a valiant effort last season, Tom Mullally’s side were relegated, but Treacy believes the squad is determined to look forward, not back. Speaking to KCLR at the launch of Carlow’s new county jersey, Treacy highlighted the competitive season awaiting them.
“You can’t dwell on it. We have to move on,” said Treacy. “There’s a serious league coming up in Division 1B, some great games. They are going to be very competitive games. You know, we’ll be turning very quickly around into another season of the Joe McDonagh, which, as we’ve seen since its inaugural year in 2018, has been probably one of the best and most competitive competitions in the GAA in the last few years.”
Carlow hurlers will face a tough test in Division 1B as they open their campaign against Offaly at O’Connor Park, Tullamore, on Saturday, January 25th, at 2:00 PM. With a mix of home and away games, Carlow will aim to prove their mettle against formidable opposition.
