A significant water outage is being reported in Thomastown this morning.
It’s affecting homes and businesses on Maudlin Street, Dublin Road, Kilkenny Road and surrounding areas.
Customers may experience low pressure or intermittent supply in affected areas.
Uisce Éireann crews are repairing a burst water main and expect to restore normal water service by 9pm tonight.
Traffic management and diversions are in place in the area while repairs are being carried out.
Mauldlin Street will be closed to through traffic with no access through Thomastown from the Dublin Road.
Traffic travelling from Kilkenny to Thomastown or towards Inistioge/New Ross should divert via Knocktopher.
Traffic from Gowran should divert via Graiguenamanagh.
Uisce Éireann’s Shane Aylward says,
“We know the inconvenience that unplanned bursts like this one in Thomastown causes for our customers, particularly at the weekend, but I can assure all those affected that our crews are working as quickly as they can to restore normal supply.”
