The Bus Connects plan, which will cover Waterford City and the northern section of the metropolitan area in South Kilkenny, is expected to be up and running in the second half of 2027.
At an event yesterday (more on that here) Gabriel Hynes, who is the Senior Roads Engineer with Waterford City and County Council, said an integrated plan, developed with the co-operation of both local authorities, was essential.
As part of this proposal park and ride sites on all approaches to Waterford City, on both sides of the River Suir, will be developed with Mr Hynes telling KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes; “But the bigger plan obviously is the role-out of bus connect with connections to the northside of the city as well and Ferrybank and south Kilkenny coupled with roll-out of bus connect we will need park and ride facilities on the outskirts and on all approaches to the city, you’d be looking at on on the Cork Road side of things coming in from Dunmore East and Passage, coming in from south Kilkenny and then coming in one from the Wexford side as well”.
