A spokesperson for the people of Ferrybank on the Kilkenny Waterford border says businesses and residents of the Abbey Road area are ‘suffering hugely’ due to the route’s closure.
It took effect at the end of June to allow for specific works as part of the North Quays development and was due to run for seven weeks but it was announced last evening that it’ll continue for two additional weeks – KCLR has reached out to the contractor BAM for comment.
That pushes it to the 30th of August; the new school year is set to start while at least one business has cited the impact on its trade the reason for temporarily shutting its doors.
