Tributes are being to paid to a ‘gifted and much cherished’ lecturer in Carlow who has passed away.
Noel Kavanagh, who passed away on Thursday, has been described by Carlow College in a tribute as a ‘gifted philosophy lecturer, who inspired generations of students with his sharp wit, intellectual generosity, and unmistakable passion for teaching.’
Noel was also a Board member of the Carlow Arts Festival, who have also been paying tribute saying ‘Noel shaped minds, encouraged curiosity, and embodied a deep belief in the value of ideas, dialogue and culture.
Carlow College will close on Monday morning for the duration of Noel’s requiem mass at St. Michael’s Parish Church, in Athy from 11am.
Normal college services will resume from 2pm on Monday.
