Carlow County County has issued a critical update this morning as the River Burren nears record high levels.
They’re advising people living along low lying parts of the Burren River, which have been prone to flooding in the past, to move valuable items to upper floors and to be prepared.
The council is doing everything they can but the Burren is approaching record levels and rising with more rain on the way.
Crews have been working throughout the night to protect homes in vulnerable areas of Carlow town.
They’ve been pumping water to reduce levels in Tullow on the River Slaney, and are prepared for another rise in levels today on foot of rainfall last night.
The River Derry in Clonegal continues to be monitored with additional sandbags provided last night.
Roads Crew are also responding to additional roads flooded and closing roads where required,
They’re asking road users not to pass through road closed or road flooded signs and not drive into flood waters.
