Today looks set to be the hottest of the year so far with temperatures up to 30 degrees or higher.
And with conditions so warm and dry local fire personnel are warning of the hazards of potential wildfires.
The Department of Agriculture has issued an orange warning for fire and with extra grass growing at the moment there’s a risk of that drying out which could lead to sparks flying.
Neal O’Grady is Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer with Carlow Fire Services is appealing for people to take care:
“By all means enjoy the hills, enjoy the wildlands but please no barbecues or open fires in the wildland areas”
He also says its important to bring your rubbish with you when you leave:
“Sometimes you know, glass bottles can have a sort of a magnifying effect. And it has been known to be causes of fire”
