Temperatures are set to soar today and records could be broken again locally following yesterday’s record high temperatures in Carlow.
It’s been heating up since Monday and a yellow weather warning remains in place until tomorrow (Saturday).
Yesterday the Oak Park weather station in Carlow broke its September heat record as it measured an hourly value of 26.7 degrees.
But the heat’s expected to be at its highest today as Kilkenny Weather’s Niall Dollard outlines: ”This is the fifth day of the heatwave and it could reach 28 to 29 degrees. Possibly a new record for the month of September in Ireland. The record dates back to 1906 in Clongowes Wood in Kildare. There’s a chance that record could break in the country today. Temperatures in Carlow and Kilkenny will likely reach 28 to 29 degrees today.”
