On Thursday’s KCLR Daily, we heard about the ambitious Grá Carlow initiative from Carlow Chamber’s perspective.
The organisation hopes it will promote and support the retail and hospitality sectors across the county both this summer and beyond: Grá Carlow: a new way to promote and support local economy
Grá Carlow, which will operate on a year-round basis, has been created to celebrate local businesses, encourage community support and keep spending within Carlow Town and County. The initiative aims to empower shoppers, strengthen local enterprise and showcase the very best of what Carlow has to offer – to locals and visitors alike.
Carlow Tourism is another partner in this new project and it’s aiming to showcase what local residents and those living in neighbouring counties can discover and enjoy in Carlow.
KCLR is also playing an active role in this new drive thanks to the development of a children’s holiday passport in Carlow and Kilkenny which will involve six outlets in each county.
“This new initiative will involve supporting our local tourism providers, promoting Carlow and being an ambassador for Carlow amongst family and friends who may be visiting us from afar and will also promote the principle of ‘slow tourism’,” said Eileen O’Rourke, the Chief Executive of Carlow Tourism. “It will seek to help people, both locals and visitors alike, to discover an unexplored part of Ireland, a county which continues to genuinely surprise many who visit it.”
KCLR News found out more about the tourism angle on this new proposition from Eileen O’Rourke at the Grá Carlow launch.
