KCLR analyst Joe Nolan says the Intermediate and Junior Hurling Championships in Carlow are heading for exciting finishes after the semi-final line-ups were confirmed over the weekend.
In the Intermediate Championship, Carlow Town will face Bagenalstown Gaels, while Burren Rangers meet Mount Leinster Rangers.
The Junior Championship semi-finals will see Carlow Town take on Ballinkillen, with Mount Leinster Rangers facing St Mullins.
The semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of September 6th.
Carlow Town remain unbeaten across both grades this season, and Nolan believes there is plenty of encouraging work being done at intermediate and junior level in the county.
Speaking about the Intermediate Championship, he said:
“The semi-finals are going to be very interesting. Carlow Town versus Bagenalstown Gaels and Mount Leinster Rangers versus Burren Rangers. Some very interesting ones there.”
Nolan also highlighted Carlow Town/Setanta’s progress in the Junior Championship following their victory over Naomh Bríd.
“One of the stories of the weekend is Setanta. They recorded their second win in adult hurling since their foundation really, defeating Naomh Bríd.”
“It was a massive win, because Setanta have recorded wins over Naomh Bríd and Naomh Eoin this year. That is a huge positive for the championship and going forward collectively for Carlow hurling.”
With the semi-final places now confirmed across both grades, Nolan believes there is plenty to look forward to as the Carlow hurling championships approach their conclusion.
