Cryptosporidium found in Graiguenamanagh’s water supply

The Environmental Protection Agency says that they were notified last week that cryptosporidium had been found in Graiguenamanagh’s water supply.
Irish Water confirmed to KCLR this afternoon, that levels of the parasite – which causes diarrhea and stomach aches – had been detected.
The water-treatment plant was shut down on Wednesday of last week with a temporary one then installed.
In a statement, the EPA says it carried out a complete audit of the plant and a report is now pending.
They also say they’re liasing with Irish Water to disinfect the water supply.
